Out of School Time (OST) Science Training
4-H, in partnership with the Education Development Center for Science Education and funded by the National Science Foundation’s Informal Science Education program, is offering professional development and training for hands-on science in out-of-school/afterschool programs. Staff of community based organizations or educational system programs will receive complete training and materials to conduct a series of six (6) research based projects from Design It! Engineering in Afterschool Programs and Explore It! Science Investigations in Out-of-School Programs.
Organizations must commit to a minimum of one year participation and to provide time for staff to attend the six training sessions with the opportunity to participate all three years of grant program (18 trainings – 18 complete curricula/series). Participation is limited to five organizations which will be selected on a first-contact basis.
If your afterschool/out-of-school time organization is interested in enhancing your staff’s ability to provide high quality science programs for youth or would like more information, contact Deborah L. Cole, County 4-H Agent/NJ OST Trainer at dcole@njaes.rutgers.edu or 625-0056 ext. 6120.
